No aardvark frivolity this time around. Just something I wrote…..
Time For Christmas
It’s here, it is the season
A feeling of joy and cheer
The time we know as Christmas
Such a special time of year
The air begins to have a chill
Gentle whiteness falls to the ground
While a spirit of peace, of love
Fills the atmosphere all around
And children! Oh, the children
Their little hearts filled with glee
With only one thought on their minds
“Wonder what Santa’s gonna bring to me?”
They’re not alone in their wonder
Grownups, too, have visions and dreams
Some are even very child-like
For some never grew up, it seems
But for others, their dream is diff’rent
Their hope, their thoughts, their desire
It’s not of worldly gifts they pine for
It’s a higher gift for which they aspire
There’s a spot in their heart that’s empty
Or a memory that brings a tear
No, there’s nothing that can come in a box
That can fill that longing this year
They long for time with their families
Moments with friends they hold dear
They regret minutes not spent with their children
People they’ll never, ever see, they fear
So, say a prayer for those longing hearts
That they get their Christmas wish this day
It’s a gift that can never come from any store
Ask that God can make a way
‘Cause the single thing that some will wish for
Can’t be purchased, no, not with a single dime
The greatest gift that could ever be given
To those pining, lonely hearts …. is time
Great post
